The Princess Wears Alexander McQueen for Evelina Children’s Hospital Visit

At a recent event, the Princess of Wales was seen wearing a chic ensemble designed by Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen, during her visit to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

The Princess was photographed with Gubby Ayida, the chief executive of Women’s and Children’s Services at Evelina London. The Princess has supported the hospital as its royal patron since 2018. Simon Perry from People’s magazine captured a short video of her arrival.

The Princess attended the hospital to inaugurate the new Children’s Day Surgery Unit, which began its services in July. The event was a formal celebration of the unit’s opening, as reported in a People magazine article.

The Children’s Day Surgery Unit, part of the Children’s Day Treatment Centre, offers treatments for various conditions including tonsillitis, adenoid removals, hand injuries, minor plastic surgeries, and ophthalmology.

One of the first staff members the Princess spoke with was Alice Green, a receptionist. “I was nervous earlier, but she was very kind and approachable,” Green shared with PEOPLE. “It felt very informal and relaxed talking to her. She recognized our important role as the first point of contact at Evelina and wished us a Merry Christmas.”

The Princess toured the new operating theaters and learned about the benefits of the one-day service model, where pre-surgery assessments, surgeries, and recoveries occur in one dedicated space, according to the Evening Standard.

During her visit, the Princess also met a young girl who had undergone surgery earlier that day and her mother. The Daily Mail reported on this encounter, noting the Princess’s empathetic interaction with them.

Kate also reunited with Tony Hudgell, a nine-year-old boy who had previously lost his legs due to abuse by his birth parents. Tony had raised over £1.6 million for the hospital by walking 10km on his prosthetic legs. The Princess had met Tony before, and they had a memorable interaction at a carol concert in 2021.

The Princess’s visit was well-documented, with several interactions with patients and staff highlighting her ongoing commitment to the hospital and its initiatives.
