The Princess of Wales in Soft Blue Hues for Northern Ireland Engagements

The Prince and Princess of Wales were warmly received by Dr. Philip McGarry, Deputy Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast, during their visit to Northern Ireland on Thursday.

In Northern Ireland, the couple is known as Baron and Lady Carrickfergus. They visited PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland, a vital organization offering support to individuals facing mental health crises, including risks of suicide and self-harm. During their visit, the Princess was presented with flowers by 12-year-old Elyse Quinn, whose mother leads the charity.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, PIPS was established in 2003 after the tragic loss of 14 young lives to suicide in Belfast the previous year. The royal couple engaged in meaningful discussions with the staff about the support services provided by the charity.

PIPS officials shared, “We had an enriching conversation about mental health and the support we extend to those affected by suicide and their families.”

The royals also participated in assembling ‘Little Boxes of Hope,’ which are care packages distributed to children supported by the charity. These packages include items like ‘Little Seeds of Hope’ wildflower seeds.

Following their visit to PIPS, the couple greeted the public in a walkabout.

Their subsequent stop was at Trademarket, a bustling food and retail market in central Belfast, which aims to showcase emerging businesses.

There, they engaged in a friendly cocktail-making competition.

More details from The Telegraph reveal that William triumphed over Kate in the cocktail race, much to the amusement of onlookers. They both took turns behind the bar, following instructions to concoct the ‘Up the Lagan in a Bubble’ cocktail, named after the local river and a popular saying.

Will Neill, founder of Trademarket, commented, “It was a delightful experience hosting them. They participated wholeheartedly and beyond their royal personas, they were genuinely charming individuals. Their visit significantly boosts our efforts here.”

The couple’s final engagement of the day was at Carrick Connect, a youth-led initiative in Carrickfergus that addresses anti-social behavior and provides mentoring for young adults. The organization, which recently received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, offers support to individuals aged 11 to 25.

During their visit, the royals met with young beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers, and participated in a walkabout in Carrickfergus, receiving a warm welcome from the local community.

Reflecting on the historical significance, the visit was reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth II’s tour over six decades ago. The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim expressed immense pride and pleasure in hosting the royal couple, highlighting the enduring connection between the town and the Royal Family.

Lastly, a brief look at what Kate wore during the visit. She donned a previously seen light blue coat, paired with a silk blouse from Wisner London, described as combining luxury and practicality. Her outfit was complemented by Gianvito Rossi suede pumps and a DeMellier London handbag, accessorized with Missoma hoop earrings.

As the day concluded, the Princess also shared a supportive message for the Rugby Football Union, showcasing her ongoing patronage and enthusiasm for the sport.

More insights into the royal visit can be found in a detailed article from The Mirror, highlighting the couple’s interactions and the warm reception they received throughout the day.
