The Princess of Wales in Alexander McQueen for Windsor Castle Audience

by admin

Today, the Princess of Wales engaged with HMS Glasgow’s crew at Windsor Castle.

Photos of the event were shared by Kensington Palace later in the day.

Additional details were provided in a Royal Navy press release.

The crew was welcomed at Windsor by the Princess of Wales, marking their first meeting since her role as the ship’s sponsor was made public last June.

“Meeting Her Royal Highness at Windsor Castle was an immense privilege,” expressed Warrant Officer Darran Sullivan, the ship’s Executive Warrant Officer.

“Her role as sponsor creates a lasting bond with the crew, and her genuine interest in HMS Glasgow and its crew was evident during our interaction,” he added.

Continuing from the press release:

“The experience of meeting the Princess was extraordinary, especially given the intimate nature of the gathering,” shared Petty Officer Colin Chalmers, a Marine Engineer who recently joined HMS Glasgow.

The crew presented a ship’s crest and a challenge coin to Her Royal Highness during the visit.

A commemorative group photograph was taken.

During a visit to the BAE Systems shipyard, Prince William announced the Duchess of Cambridge as the royal sponsor of the ship last June.

Further insights were shared by The Scottish Daily Express.

HMS Glasgow leads the Royal Navy’s new City Class Type 26 frigates. Constructed by BAE Systems on the River Clyde, these ships are primarily tasked with anti-submarine warfare and air defense. Their versatile design also allows them to undertake missions like counter-terrorism, disaster relief, and maritime security. They play a crucial role in protecting the Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD) and supporting the Royal Navy’s Carrier Strike Groups.

Today’s attire for the Princess included her familiar Alexander McQueen Crepe Blazer and matching trousers.

She paired these with a previously worn Bodysuit by Holland Cooper.

Accessories included Patrick Mavros Ocean Tide Milky Quartz earrings and a Round Stilla Lapis Lazuli Pendant Necklace from Astley Clarke.

The meeting took place in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, a location with historical significance and a backdrop for many royal photographs.
