The Princess of Wales, adorned in striking red attire by Alexander McQueen, delivered her inaugural significant address in her latest role.
The address was a highlight of the evening at BAFTA headquarters in London’s West End, serving as a precursor to the “Shaping Us” campaign set to officially start tomorrow. This initiative is a cornerstone of the Princess’s focus on early childhood and is the inaugural major campaign from the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
For more details, see Victoria Ward’s article in the Telegraph.
The Centre for Early Childhood describes “Shaping Us” as a campaign that elevates the topic from a scientific interest to one of the most strategically significant issues of our era.
Several celebrities have lent their support to the Shaping Us campaign. Here, the Princess is pictured with entrepreneur and author Sol Lovemore and broadcaster Fearne Cotton.
Additional insights can be found in Danielle Stacey’s article for Hello magazine.
The royal couple was joined by a host of celebrity supporters at the evening event held at Bafta’s London headquarters, including former Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, rapper Professor Green, presenter Fearne Cotton, and England football captain Leah Williamson.

The campaign is dedicated to highlighting the pivotal role of early childhood in shaping our adult lives. It emphasizes understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us during these formative years.
This initiative is part of a long-term effort, starting with an exploration of our developmental stages during early childhood and the significance of these years in shaping our future selves.
We return to The Telegraph’s coverage for more information.
The campaign represents the first major announcement from The Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood, initiated by the Princess in 2021 to raise the profile of early years to a level comparable to global issues like environmental conservation.
The Princess has been deeply involved in every aspect of the campaign, collaborating with a panel of expert advisors to guide the next phases of the initiative.
Following tonight’s event, Kensington Palace shared a message on social media, and the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood released a video from the engagement.
Now, let’s discuss what Kate wore for this evening’s event.
The Princess opted for Alexander McQueen’s Leaf Crepe Drop-Hem Jacket in Welsh Red, a piece characterized by its fitted silhouette, padded shoulders, peak lapels, angled pocket flaps, and an asymmetric front hem.
The trousers are also from Alexander McQueen, crafted in the same Welsh Red fabric, featuring a slim bootcut design, concealed front zipper, slanted front pockets, a back pocket, and back seam.
The Princess complemented her outfit with Gianvito Rossi 105 pumps and carried a Miu Miu clutch.
She accessorized with a pair of earrings first seen at a June 2022 engagement, the Florence style by Chalk, inspired by the ornate details and geometry of the Royal Opera House’s main stage auditorium ceiling.
Over the weekend, an open letter from the Princess about the campaign was released by Kensington Palace, emphasizing the profound impact of our earliest years on our adult lives and the societal importance of focusing on early childhood development.
Along with the letter, photos of the Princess with students from St. John’s Church of England Primary School in Bethnal Green were shared.
Another view of the engagement was also shared, along with a brief video teasing the Shaping Us campaign.
In the photos released by Kensington Palace, the Princess wears a Burberry blouse similar to the label’s Silk Crepe de Chine Tie-Neck Blouse, accessorized with Spells of Love ‘Alia’ earrings.
