The Princess toured one of the UK’s most active military airfields, recently after being named Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm by the King.

She explored the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in Somerset, where King Charles once trained in helicopter flying back in 1974.

The air station is a significant hub, employing over 4,300 military and civilian personnel, including MOD employees and contractors. It also houses the renowned Fleet Air Arm Museum.

The Princess began her tour at the Air Traffic Control Tower, where she communicated with a Wildcat helicopter crew using a headset.

During her visit, an F-35B Lightning aircraft performed a flyby of the control tower, showcasing the advanced capabilities of the stealth fighters currently deployed on HMS Queen Elizabeth.

She also visited a hangar and interacted with the personnel, examining a Banshee drone used by the Royal Navy.

Her tour concluded at the Wildcat Training Centre, where she learned about and tried on safety equipment used by the Royal Navy.

During a demonstration, the Princess experienced the rapid inflation of a life jacket, which led to a moment of surprise followed by laughter.
