The Princess of Wales opted for a relaxed outfit during her visit to a SportsAid workshop focused on mental fitness, accompanied by Prince William.
Since 2013, the Princess has been a patron of SportsAid. The workshop took place at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, located west of London. Below is a brief video capturing the couple’s arrival.
Today marks the conclusion of a three-day series of activities aligned with World Mental Health Day.
Earlier this week, the royal couple hosted a forum on mental health with young individuals.
Yesterday, the Princess visited Nottingham Trent University to explore mental health support available for students.
More details on today’s event are available in The Daily Mail’s coverage.
During the visit, Kate and William engaged with parents of young athletes supported by SportsAid, discussing the challenges and opportunities in sports. The Princess, a fervent supporter of youth initiatives, showed great interest in learning about the athletes’ experiences.
The royal couple joined forces with notable SportsAid ambassadors, including Paralympic gold medalist Ellie Simmonds and Commonwealth gold medalist Ama Agbeze.
In the accompanying photo, British hockey player Shona McCallin, an Olympic Gold Medalist, is seen to the right of the Princess.
In a video by Richard Palmer of The Express, the Princess is seen engaging with young participants, praising their efforts.
A recent press release highlighted that the visit followed an Athlete Mental Health Survey by SportsAid, which revealed that a significant portion of young athletes occasionally experience anxiety, with many lacking adequate access to mental health services.
The survey results indicated that 42% of young athletes occasionally feel anxious in daily life, with 20% frequently feeling anxious. Additionally, 40% reported limited or uncertain access to mental health resources.
The Prince and Princess actively participated in two practical sessions aimed at enhancing mental resilience. In the first session, they attempted basketball shooting under various pressures, such as time constraints and simulated crowd noise.
Another perspective of the event is provided in The Evening Standard, which offers additional insights into the activities, including the couple’s participation in goalball, a sport designed for visually impaired athletes.
On a specially designed pitch, the Princess, blindfolded, successfully scored a goal with a heavy ball, much to the delight of the spectators.
Eleanor Burleigh captured a video of the Princess’s successful throw, which was met with cheers from the audience.
The Princess’s attire included a cobalt blue double-breasted blazer by Zara, paired with a white ribbed top by Lauren Ralph Lauren and dark blue jeans by MOTHER. Her casual yet stylish ensemble was completed with Veja Esplar Sneakers.
Her hair was styled down, showcasing the Issy Star Earrings, a poignant accessory sold to support mental health initiatives.
